Recently a green laser was introduced to the laser sight family.

Red is higher on the spectrum at 635 nanometers. Green can be used inside or out but green is much more visible outside and can be used to engage targets in similar circumstances. Not sure it makes that much difference in laser sights. Jason mackay 4 years ago.

Different wavelengths in the visible spectrum produce different colors. The number one reason to use a green laser is daytime visibility. Red light waves range from 620 to 750 nanometers and green light ranges from 495 to 570 nanometers. The eye s frequency response is bell curve shaped with the highest point of the curve being in the green while the red lies on the right end of the bell curve.

From the target s point of view having a red laser dot on your chest is very impactful.
